Originally established in the early part of the 20th century as the Darlington & Simpson Rolling Mills Social & Welfare Club for the benefit of the workforce (and their families) employed by the Darlington & Simpson Rolling Mills Company Ltd. The Club was left in perpetuity to the workforce its stability and future being ensured by the Trustees (volunteers) appointed by the Company.
The original Clubhouse was demolished and rebuilt in the latter half of the 20th century. The demise of the Steel Industry in Darlington placed the Clubhouse in a somewhat precarious position. However, a group of enthusiastic members and trustees took the appropriate steps to convert the Clubhouse and its Grounds to a Private Limited Company controlled by an elected Board of Directors. The Club was incorporated on the 19th May 1999.
Today, this Private Members Club continues to be run successfully and supports a variety of Sports and Social Sections associated within its premises. It also caters for private functions and encourages new membership(s) requests to avail themselves of its facilities.
